Few bands could make it past such setbacks as the loss of it's main members, personal tragedies, and negative reviews by so-called "music experts", so it's a miracle that Yes just celebrated their 40th anniversary last year.
There are few experiences in both the music world and life comparable to listening to a Yes album. The distinctive music, cosmic lyrics, and angelic vocals don't even sound earthly. They also have an odd sense of humor. Maybe that's why fans sometimes joke about the members actually being aliens.
Thanks to negative reviews from shallow critics and limited airplay, Yes has always had a much smaller fanbase than the average classic rock band. Maybe more people would fall in love with their music if they actually had a chance to hear it, or a place to start.
